click or right arrow i was going to finish one of these but i lost motivation D: i really want to express why these two designs are irresistible but i'm tired rn so if i remember i'll edit this run on sentence edit: essay time right so shape language is a tool that helps character designers express who their characters are. for example, pointy shapes like triangles express ambition or edgyness, round shapes are bubbly and inoffensive, square/quadrilateral can show stubbornness or hardiness. those are only a few examples of what shape design can signify. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vxX_o5E9dgU (Character Design Forge, i've learned a lot from this guy :>) Shape language isn't about making a character entirely of shapes, it's about using shapes to suggest something about a character. Like when you look at someone and you instantly know what they're about. Take Natsu: she's very wavey, with her flowy tank top and her frizzy octohair. The colors you picked for her, orange, blue, and teal, are beachy. This gives me the impression that she's fun and outgoing. Fuyu is different. Her asymmetrical socks and round buns give her a funny look. Her hair-tentacles are snug close to her face, like armor. Is she hiding something mischievous under her long yellow sleeve?? All of her different elements gets my imagination joggin'. Because they have similar color palettes, it's easy to think of them as friends.
