Description

It wasn’t too long until my father came home from work. As soon as I heard the car pull up to the house, I saw Ikari’s eyes brighten up, “Finally! We can have a villain in our game!” She grabbed my hand and pulled me towards the door. We both waited for him to open the door. When he did, he seemed surprised to see us both waiting at the door. “Do you girls need something?” He asked, raising an eyebrow with an amused expression, he then noticed me wearing my dress and seemed even more amused. “Yes!” Ikari said confidently. “We need you to be the evil king! I have to defeat you!” She said, hopping up and down. Father sighed but smiled warmly at us. “Oh well, if you insist,” he said reluctantly. For the rest of the afternoon, we played, Ikari swatted at Father with a sword, and Father sarcastically acted hurt by saying “Oh no…” or “The pain…!” Ikari didn't care about the sarcasm, it was a game anyway. By the time it was dinner, we were all exhausted. I’ve never been an active kid, so this was a lot to handle. We sat down for dinner and ate the steak my dad had prepared for us. Ikari prayed with us, although she did so impatiently, and then she ate the food quicker than I could take a bite. By the time I had finished my plate of food, she had already eaten her fourth plate. I guess she really liked steak. It wasn’t particularly my favorite food, but I didn’t mind having it. I made a note to ask Father to make steak on days that Ikari sleeps over. After dinner, she thanked Father for the food then ran off to my room. I quickly thanked my father and then rushed after her. I saw her about to sit on my bed and I panicked, “Stop!” I squealed. “Your hands! They’re messy! Go wash them first!” I scolded. Ikari seemed to pout, like a toddler, and walked off to the bathroom slowly. I went to the other bathroom, and by the time I came back, Ikari was sitting on the floor, sulking, her back facing towards me. I sighed, “Your hands are washed, you can sit on my bed now.” She shook her head. I felt irritated, why should I have to console her when she was the one in the wrong? I sat down on the bed, “Are you sure you don't want to come up here? It’s comfier than the floor.” She ignored me. I felt as if I had done something wrong, but I know I didn't! It wasn’t me who tried to go on my bed with dirty hands. Even so, I wanted to make her stop sulking. I feigned sadness, “I'm all alone on the bed, I feel so cold and lonely…” I said, as pitifully as I could. Ikari must’ve known it was a trick, she always seems to know things. Still, she stiffened. I patted a spot next to me, “Come sit.” I said. She went back to ignoring me. I huffed, annoyed. I hated apologizing, but she obviously wouldn’t give up until I said sorry. I sighed, even though she wasn’t facing me I looked away from her, “I’m sorry…” I said reluctantly. “For what?” She said simply. I felt my face redden, “You know for what!” She went back to ignoring me. I wanted to hit her, she was getting very annoying. “Fine! I'm sorry for yelling at you instead of explaining it to you calmly. I shouldn’t have gotten so upset.” I said, starting to feel guilty. She stood up, then turned to face me. “I’ll accept your apology if you let me do one thing,” she said. “What?” “Let me pat your head this once!” I stiffened, “No.” I told her, “I don't like people patting my head!” She sighed, then sat down next to me, “I figured as much. Still, it was worth a try.” She said with a smile. She then looked away from me, “I’m sorry too. I was being too much and didn’t even ask you for permission.” I felt better, “It’s okay, everyone makes mistakes.” I told her. She smiled, “Yeah, you’re right.” I didn't know what else to say, so I changed the topic, “Let’s go to bed, do you want me to show you the guest room?” I asked. Ikari seemed uncomfortable as if she was too shy to ask something. I waited for her answer. She looked down, not meeting my gaze for some reason. “I…Um, can I sleep with you?” She asked. Her face flushed, “I meant just in your bed with you, I…I'm scared to sleep alone.” She said, stumbling on her words. I’ve never slept in the same bed as someone before, but I didn’t see a problem with it, as long as it made Ikari feel more comfortable. I nodded, “Sure, why not.” I said. She smiled softly, still embarrassed. “Thanks.”
