I waited on the bench, Ikari wasn’t at the park yet. I felt a bit anxious that maybe she didn’t want to come to my house and she might have decided to stop coming to the park. I hoped that wasn’t the case. After a couple of minutes, I heard someone running, then I saw Ikari behind me, out of breath. “Sorry! I was late, but I did try to get here in time, I ran all the way here!” She said, panting between every few words. I nodded, “It’s okay. I only got here about a minute ago, I was also late.” I said. It was a lie, which I usually never do, but I didn’t want to make her feel like she made me wait. She smiled, “That’s good. Guess what?” She said. I tilted my head, “What?” I asked. She put her hands on her hips proudly, “I can come over to your house any day, as long as I come home before 9:00 on school nights. On weekends, they don't care if I stay the night or the entire weekend!” She said with a big smile. I felt a bit bad, what parents don't care to meet the parents of their kid’s friend before agreeing to let her stay with them? Still, I did feel glad she could stay. “I’ll tell my father.” I said, “Tomorrow is a Thursday, so let's hang out then and see how it goes.” She nodded enthusiastically, and even I felt eager for tomorrow.
