I was gonna make this a comment on my profile but I think that sharing a project will mean more people will see it Also, there is no "correct" way to design! You don't need to follow the tips I put in this project, I just put what has personally helped me here In addition, I haven't taken real classes on character design nor do I consider myself a professional. If these tips help you out, that's great! If they don't, you can try asking others for help as well :D -I've learned in my experience with making character designs for TFRF that simple is sometimes better. If you focus too much on making it look "fancy", then it ends up being confusing to look at and to draw. It's best to find a balance between complex and simple since if it's too simple it could end up just being generic. -I'd also like to note that complex designs /can/ work, but you gotta be careful with what you put on the design so it isn't a mess lol. -I tend to focus quite a bit on character silhouettes. A unique, recognizable silhouette means that a character could easily be seen in a crowd and just makes the character more memorable in general! While it doesn't make or break a character, it can certainly enhance a design. -You can make a unique silhouette in multiple ways, such as accessories and idk whatever you can think of!! -Try not to make a character's silhouette too complex as it'll make it look, well... cluttered XD -Having the viewer focus on somewhere in a character can be very useful! I personally like to try drawing the viewer's attention to the character's face/head and unless you specifically want someone to focus somewhere else, then I'd say making the face/head the focus point is a good thing in a design -You could do this by making brighter/more saturated or contrasting colors where you want the viewer to focus. You can also add things like accessories to draw the viewer's attention!
