MossClan ---- History ---- MossClan is the last remaining of the three ancient Clans, the other two being BlazeClan and CoastClan. As such, it has a very long past, watching many tragedies and events over the course of it's existance. Unfortunately, in modern times, much of that past has been lost and forgotten. ....That's okay I'm certain that it doesn't matter at all and that it will never be important later :D ---- Territory Description ---- This Clan is incredibly green. Neither forest nor glade, the territory is covered in large shrubs, and countless rocks and stones of all sizes. The namesake of the Clan is quite obvious, even to a newcomer, being the creeping moss that seems to present itself on every rock and tree possible. There are a few large bodies of water around the territory, but water is most prevalent in small streams. Trees are sparse, and birds usually end up preferring to nest in the thicker. The last notable feature is the red flowers that grow all over, adding a distinct pop of color to the sea of green. These flowers are popular for all kinds of accessories among MossClan cats. Common prey choices usually include small birds, garter snakes, mice, and shrews, sometimes you can find a rabbit- though they're be quite hard to catch. Common predators are adders and foxes. Bobcats are occasionally around the territory, but they don't typically like to enter the thistles. Very rarely, bears may be encountered. ---- Cat Descriptions ---- (any coloration, bodytype, etc. is welcome! don't feel pressured to stick to these guidelines! Matching any of these guidelines absolutely does not increase survival chance because that'd be weird and gross so please do not ask lol. common cat characteristics are more about who just happened to find it most comfortable to live in that environment.) Although MossClan is incredibly diverse, ancient loners who were smaller felt it was easier to maneuver amongst thorns, making them the most likely to stay, thus modern-day MossClanners are typically a little smaller. Medium-length fur is the most common- long-haired cats often get the thistles tangled in their coats, whereas short-haired cats might have the thorns pierce their skin. Thorns often being in loners' fur did not make them want to stay all that badly!!! Those that do have long fur have made a habit of wetting down their coats with water before adventuring out, just in attempt to mitigate snagging. Swiftness is a rare trait among MossClanners- there is no place for speed in a wall of twisting, thorny paths. Instead, training is focused on agility, making them excellent at weaving through a maze of branches. Paradoxically, MossClan cats also tend to have a horrible sense of direction. In death, previous MossClan cats, particularly those incredibly loyal to MossClan, often exhibit a green, red, or yellow color for their ghost color. ---- Behaviors ---- Sharing-tongues is an important time of day for MossClan cats, typically after evening patrols are sent out (the cats in the patrols will typically have a seperate, mini sharing-tongues upon their return before they head to bed), because their fur is far too hard to keep completely clean of tiny branches, leaves, and thorns as they go about their duties around the territory- it is also a beloved opportunity to share the events of the day. The trait most valued in this Clan is patience. Swimming has never been considered a necessity in the Clan, there is only one or two rivers within the territory that are big enough to support fish. It is very rare that a MossClan cat knows how to swim at all, and much less fish. Climbing is also a rarity, but much less so. The branches of the undergrowth are too thin and too sharp to balance on, but there are still trees and large rocks that are suitable climbing surfaces. About 1 in 5 of MossClanners have this skill. (If you want to have some fun, you could always roll to see if your character has learned how to climb! You don't have to though, it's entirely optional). It is often seen as a useless trait, and oftentimes older warriors will roll their eyes or scoff at younger ones that can climb, calling them show-offs or arrogant. Cloudedglade is a notable MossClan NPC with this ability. Tunnelling is a skill that, although likely more useful than the previously mentioned, is still on the rarer side. About 1 of 3 cats learn this skill, and even then it is likely only a brief lesson. MossClan cats feel at home in tunnels, the cool underground not too far from the undergrowth of their territory, but they do not utilize them or dig them often, preferring to simply stay above ground, as there is not a huge benefit for them by using tunnels. + in N+C
Rock Stacking (as a note, this was not my idea or started by me, but this was a kit tradition that rose in popularity near the start of the roleplay), the art of stacking up rocks to see how high you can balance them, is a popular kit game in this Clan. ------- art by me i thought itd be nice to actually tell and show yall what mossclan looks like before we do maps about it HELP-- what i want mossclan to look like has changed since i first wrote that little blurb in the studio description, so here it is! :D p.s. sorry for making the most annoying to draw clan ever :D please please let me know if you have any questions or concerns i don't draw backgrounds like ever, i won't say the art is bad because i'm actually quite pleased with it! but just know that i never draw backgrounds literally ever so this was a whole lot of experimentation!!
