Mallory Malfoy| An HP FanFic| Chapter 2 Year 1 How do I put this into words? Hogwarts was, everything. From the classes, to the teachers and food, everything made me feel like I finally belonged somewhere. And of course there was Nova and Adrian. When we weren't studying we were either exploring every nook and cranny the castle had to offer or stuffing ourselves full of the most mouth watering food ever. We had silently decided that us three were the only people needed. Our Golden Trio. Nova had become obsessed with studying and always made sure we were on track and passed with flying colors(which we did). It was thanks to her that us three had more free time on our hands. Adrian was more chill. In order to get him to study for more than 30 minuets he needed proper motivation. Like, a lot of proper motivation. Usually once I agreed to bake him pie he would focus. It was hard not to be bored around here, there was always something to do. Like right now. Potions. While no one else could see the appeal, I passed with extra flying colors. When you think about it, Potions was just baking- both were sciences. Which was something I loved and excelled at. Potions was something that Adrian and Nova struggled with so when we studied, I always took the lead. Sitting down, I observed that today was our lessons with the Hufflepuffs, which was a nice break from the Slytherins. Once I had gotten out my parchment and quill, I noticed a boy scribbling furiously on his parchment looking like he was about to be ill. Bentley Conrad I remembered. I couldn't take it anymore so I walked over and said "hi." "H-hi." Bentley responded, startled. "Do you want any help? It seems like you may be struggling a bit." "That would be nice. Thank you. Mallory, right?" "Yes." I replied smiling. "Bentley?" "Yeah." I gently took his paper and examined it. "Oh. Well you have these three potions mixed up. If you want better help remembering them just use acronyms. Or even draw a funny picture." "Thank you. That actually helps a lot. Would you mind studying with me later? You know for the test?" I hesitated. Fridays were the days that Adrian, Nova and I went to the library or an unoccupied nook to decompress and talk about our week. I decided to make an exception just this once and promised myself that they would have me all weekend. "That sounds lovely. Shall I meet you after dinner?" "Yes. I will see you then." I returned to my seat and saw that my friends had taken their positions on either side of me. "What was that about Mal?" Asked Adrian. "I was helping out a fellow student. Speaking of which, I won't be able to make our Friday appointment, I told Bentley I would help him study for the test." I could tell they wanted to say something but at that moment the professor walked in and class begun. Next thing I knew I was rushing back up to my dorm room to change before my study date. I changed into a pair of silver leggings and a red hoodie, grabbed my satchel and went to meet Bentley. Once I arrived I saw that he too had dressed casual and smiled in greeting. "Ready?" He asked. "Lead the way." Without realizing it, Bentley and I had spent four hours outside studying and talking. Once we made our way back into the castle, I expected him to turn and make his way to the Hufflepuff Dormitory but instead he followed me. "I just want to make sure you get back safely." "Well here we are. Thank you for walking me, Bentley. I had fun tonight." "You're welcome. And I had fun too. Maybe we can do it again sometime?" I gave a big smile. "I'd like that. Good night." "Good night Mallory. Sleep well." I stepped into the Gryffindor common room to find my friends by the fire each reading a novel. "Hey. Ready for bed?" Looking up, Nova saw that I had finally returned. "Oh hey! And yes, we just wanted to wait for you." "Well I'm here. Let's go." "Good night Adrian!" We called in unison, heading up to the dorm. "Night girls." The next few months passed in a blur. Until finally it was Christmas Break! Of course I was sad to leave my friends but I couldn't contain my excitement to be with my parents. I had received many letters from my them over the months. The first letter I had received had been from my dad. He had said; "My dearest Mallory, I know that we are able to convey everything by saying nothing, but these words are ones I wish for you to have forever. Before you came into the world, I was lost. I had no direction, but finally found my true north in you. There was sunlight, but you are an eternal flame. Simply put you are my life. I've loved you since before I knew you and will continue to love you with every fiber of my being. Forever and always. I believe that you will do extraordinary things in this world little snake. With love, forever and always, Daddy"

Description

I smiled, thinking about that letter. It had moved me to tears because I knew my father loved me, I just never realized how much. The Express finally pulled into King's Cross and I bounded down the steps so fast I barely touched them. In no time I was pulled into my parents warm embrace, determined to make it last forever. Christmas finally came! I woke up and looked out the window to see a foot of snow! Grinning from ear to ear, I ran to my parents room and demanded them to wake up until they finally did. Once we got to the living room I passed out the presents and we began to open them. For my father I made a new metal band for his watch- something he's needed but didn't have the money for- and watched his eyes well up. "Oh Mally. This means so much to me. Thank you." "Of course daddy." For my mother I had made a necklace made of daises, poppies and lavender then used a preserving charm. "I love the eternal scent. Thank you Mal." "You're welcome mum." From them I had received books, art supplies and a new set of headphones. After the personal festivities had ended, we got dressed and headed to my aunt and uncles. The whole thing was a whirlwind, I couldn't tell you every detail but I can recall a conversation I overheard my mother, grandma and three aunts having. "It's just such a shame that she'll be without him. Mallory idolizes James." "This is how he wants it to be. I don't like it but it's his wish." "Poor girl." Later that night I asked, "Would you ever lie to me?" "Of course not Mallory. Why would you say that?" My father asked. I shrugged, "Just curious if you would or not." "If we ever lie to you it's to protect you. That's all. Good night my love." "Good night daddy." The next few days passed in a blur. Next thing I knew, we were back at King's Cross. I didn't want to go but knew I had to. "Write me lots of letters?" I begged them. My mother smiled and pulled me close. "Of course we will. Don't you worry. I love you Mallory." "I love you more mum." When I turned to my father, he bent down so that we were eye to eye. "Always remember this little snake. Everything that happens to you, shapes who you are and makes you stronger. And you are far stronger than you know." "I'll remember, I promise." He pulled me in for a fierce hug. "I love you more than words Mallory. Nothing and no one can ever replace us." "Ever." I added. "I love you too daddy. Forever and always." Before tears could start, I ran onto the train and went to a window to wave. Little did I know that that would be the last time I ever saw my father.
