They hoped to overthrow the rulers with malicious curses and spells, and then govern the town to fulfill their personal interests. The king and queen’s current method of ruling was terrible and so numerous citizens joined their cause. Not long after, the kingdom found itself in a magical civil war. Ordinary citizens had to flee if they wanted to survive. The king and queen mysteriously disappeared. Spells, curses and chants. Witch against witch. Wizard against wizard. After two years and seven months of war, the traitors were victorious. The casualties numbered in the thousands, and soon the last remaining good magicians were forced into hiding. The evil magicians seized the valley and enslaved anyone who entered. Life was harsh. While the war was raging, many normal citizens and good magicians had fled to the surrounding mountains. Overtime, the number of those with magical skills dwindled and life for the valley and cave inhabitants became more normal as they got accustomed to the land. The valley peoples had an easy life in the fertile land. They always had plenty to eat and an abundance of leisure time. On the other hand, life was difficult for those in the mountains. Food did not grow easily and meat was scarce. However, due to the high altitudes, they developed better lungs and could breathe in areas lacking oxygen. To be continued...
