Chapter 5 After crying for a long time, I told Nora and the chaperone that I needed to go home. “Well Emma, Larry can take you tomorrow.” Said the chaperone, “Okay.” I replied with a sigh. “Emma, if you are going home, I am going too.” Nora said. “Why?” I wonder, “She will miss all the fun time to have in Coeur d’ Alene!” puzzled, I say, “Okay, but you are going to miss all the fun here.” The next morning, I hopped on the bus with Nora. I was going home. I was sad to have to go so soon, but I knew I should go see mom. Halfway to Boise, Larry said, “So Emma, why the rush home?” “I—I Don’t really want to talk about it.” I whispered, with tears in my eyes. After another long bus drive, I finally arrived at my house. There, my dad was waiting for me, because he was taking me to mom at the hospital. I noticed Tom, and it looks like he had been crying like me. Quickly, I picked some flowers for my mom. “Maybe she will feel better soon.” I thought, while in the car, but when I got there, her sickness was getting worse, so I didn’t get to see her much. “Hi mom,” I said in a quiet voice, while shaking a bit, “How are you feeling?” “Not very good.” She whispered as I handed her the flowers. “Emma don’t cry.” She said, as she noticed tears on my face sliding down to my cheeks. “I’m going to get better; I promise. A faint smile spread across my scared face, but in my heart, I knew there was a high chance of her leaving me. Next, Nora walked to my mom, “I hope you will get better soon Miss Hart; I will be praying for you.” she said. (our last name is Hart you know) My dad kissed my mom, as Tom talked to her. An hour later, we had to go, “Bye mom.” I called to her, “Feel better!” said Tom almost shouting. Walking out of the hospital doors, I wondered why Nora said she would pray for her, it didn’t work for me! It just made things worse! After dropping Nora off, we finally got home. Later in the day, my friends came to say hi, and to cheer me up, but they didn’t really make me feel happy. On the outside I looked happy, but on the inside, I was confused and mad that my mom was sick. No matter how many times my friends tried to cheer me up, I was still sad. “Hi girls!” Called my dad as he came in the house from work. “Are you okay Emma?” asked my dad, as he noticed my sad face. “I’m fine dad.” I replied with a sigh. “Emma, since you didn’t get to spend the amount of time that you deserved at Silverwood, I’m going to let you have a sleepover with your friends!” He declared. “A sleepover!!!” I Yelled. “Eeee!!” We all screamed. “You girls stay here, and I will get your stuff from your parents and the other girls.” He told. “Other girls?!” I shouted, “But there is already all of us here!” “Who is the one where missing?” Sarah chimed. To that I knew who he was talking about… Nora… But still, are we friends or enemies? I made no noise until my dad left. “Who is he talking about Emma?” Victoria asked. “Yeah Emma, who?” Sarah said. “Nora.” I replied. “WHAT?!” Shouted all my friends. “There’s something strange about you lately.” Sarah hissed at me.” “Are you two friends?” Suzy asked, “No, No.” I replied, “We are not friends, and we never will be, were too different from each other.
