Description

Have you ever had this feeling when you discovered something new and continuously daydreamed deeply about it? Some say it feels like your noggin is bouncing off your head like a DVD screensaver. YouTube version: https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/youtube/lu5Dd29rDE8 The full animation was finished on August 9th, 2024. Where do I begin with this? This was supposed to be a "Cooking With Peppino" promo animation, and I started developing it on November 1st 2023. When 30 seconds of animation was finished, complications happened behind the scenes, and it caught dust when CWP went into limbo. Since then, this animation has been neglected due to a loss of motivation while working on this project and at the university. There was no point in continuing this when CWP went down the gutters. I was planning to share the unfinished version of what was left. Suddenly, CWP rebranded to Preparing With (Peppino) - PWP. It went in a different direction: Instead of an episodic fan series, it would be more skits surrounding Peppino's cooking show. My promo animation fell into that category; thus, I continued to progress in late June. Despite PWP getting rebranded earlier, and I was planning to resume straightaway, I had my finals and have been taking mental breaks (the late spring hiatus). One month in, I was supposed to be done by now. That was because, during my hiatus, I didn't draw anything at all, so I was rusty on art and animation as a whole. I eventually picked up the pace once I resumed, but my motivation fluctuated, and I was burnt out after exam week. The more progress I made with this animation, the more confident I became as I picked up the pieces where I left off. However, with a fresh mind, I eventually got many ideas for my animation, so I bloated it. The original scope would be around 45 seconds to a minute long, but it extended to a chain of events for this one, increasing the duration to around two minutes. From my experience with this animation, it could have been better, but I want to get it done because I am "quitting" Scratch. In my previous project, I mentioned that my secret project would be my final main project for a while, and this is the one. As stated before, I finally graduated from university and must find a job. I cannot stay in Scratch forever as I achieved everything here, and the Scratch servers are being downed frequently and neglecting the community. I must become employable by finally studying real animation software to work in the industry in my spare time. PWP is more of a casual indie production team, so this is more of a taster/work experience. With this project, I am finished taking Scratch seriously. This is the one thing that breaks the camel's back because it has over 400 frames and over 1000 blocks, and it was tedious to find the sound effects and music and put them in the already bloated code. I ranted about how animating in Scratch is tedious. Even though there is no lip-sync, depending on the scope, it can be mentally draining and take an unnecessarily long time compared to animation software, and this is the one. For my future animations, all my ideas will be transitioned to external software (TBA), which will (unfortunately) be on YouTube. If you want to follow me there, you can either use my handler (same name) or type in WiLDZY. I am aware that I need to update the Pizza Tower sprites. This will be on the back burner as they are not my priority. I'll try to upload some Scratch animations, but they're fillers and not as intense. My 10th anniversary on this site is approaching, and I might post something about it. No promises. #animation #art
