Spoilers! But this episode is pretty old now so I don't think you really care. | | | | | | V Hey guys! Welcome back to Reviewsday, and HOO BOY we have a lot to talk about today. In nearly every review I have ever made since this infamous episode, I have compared it to TPOT 5. I have always said something along the lines of "It wasn't as bad as TPOT 5!" I think it is finally time to discuss why I have such a vandetta against this episode in particular, and more importantly why it's my least favorite episode of not only TPOT, but BFDI as a whole. "Ohh but GC you already reviewed TPOT 5 when it released!" Yeah, but that was a really bad review. Most of it was unnecessary anger, mis-spellings, and crappy reasoning. I think it is finally time that I make a better review of this episode to not only redeem my previous review, but bring this episode to justice. Let's get into it. Start of with the challenge, and my god is it wasted potential. Similar to BFDIA 11, it is a really solid idea on paper, but the way it is executed is what bugs me. Because there is this unspoken rule where "you have to directly hand it to Two in order to be safe". But when Pillow brings Two the plate, he never actually takes it! This is a minor detail sure, but it drives me mad that an oversight could have caused arguably one of the largest plot holes in all of BFDI. Not only that, but almost none of the characters are likable so watching it all unfold is extremely annoying. I'll talk more about that in the admittedly long characters segment, but for now I'll go over one of the worst eliminations in the series. Yeah Naily and Remote are the ones who got out, and it still shocks me. Naily was my favorite character on Just Not, and she was arguably the best member aside from maybe Pillow. But characters like Bomby Cake and Nickel who did nothing at the time somehow WERE safe. And Remote getting out sucked a ton too. She had just started getting intresting for the first time since BFB 7, and she gets immediately wasted. I'm glad Fanny did stay, but Lightning could have gotten out here and nobody would have cared. Now for the characters segment, and I'll just split this into a paragraph for each team so I can thoroughly explain how none of them were good. I'll go in order from the least bad, starting with Teardrop. The only reason she is the least bad is because she is the only one on her team, and she wasn't abysmal this episode. Instead she gains this new ability which has never been seen in the series prior to this point, notably in BFDI. If she was the ocean couldn't she just...move there as fast as she wanted? It felt like all the stuff with her was just useless pandering, but I guess it wasn't awful so yippee. Next up is The S! The entire team except for Clock are idiots in this episode. Why did they keep digging after they had died several times? Why did they think draining the ocean would work? How did Winner know they were almost at the ocean? Why does Ice Cube immediately melt in the water when she didn't in BFDI 6? There is just so many plot holes and questions, not helped by the fact that they did nothing for the majority of the episode. The fact that Clock is the only competent character in the episode makes it so they aren't any worse than they are. Oh yeah, this is the second episode in a row to completely forget about the arc Clock has with Winner, WHY DID THEY FORGET IT AGAIN? And since they bring back the arc in episode 7 it makes it even stupider how they completely ignore it for a few episodes. Gee, Clock is such an interesting character with so much going for him! I sure hope he doesn't get eliminated for no reason! God that was a lot, and it isn't even close to the worst? Anyways the next least bad was Death Pact Again. They were just okay, but the yoyledancing dragged on and on! I said last time I enjoyed the yoyledancing, but looking back on it it just seems like an attempt to make this episode more memorable than it actually is. You know what, I don't have much else to say about DPA because they do nothing else for the episode so I'll just talk about the yoyle issue in BFDI. God they can't think of anything new or creative so they just take a random thing and slap yoyle in front of it. The yoyledancing, the yoyleite in BFDIA, yoyle chess, and the motherfriggin ZOOMY RAMP OF YOYLE LEGEND. That is real. It is so repetitive, and it reeks of unoriginality. Like jeez, can't you guys think of something that doesn't relate to Yoyleland? What about some already pre-established stuff that are from Goiky? Oh yay, we are in the last 4 teams, and I'll have to say out of the four Just Not was the least abysmal. I have warmed up to Pillow in recent episodes, but in this she is straight up unlikable. She is a screen time hog, and everyone else on the team are either annoying or irrelevant. (MORE IN NOTES AND CREDITS)
Scroll down once you have finished the first part up there (yeah it really is that long) Pillow in this episode was like Flower was in Post Split, completely rigged to win. She just manipulates gravity, kills Fries and Puffball, dives down to get a plate and immediately resurfaces, and the scene that I explained earlier plays out. Not to mention how annoyingly egotistical she is in this episode, it is genuinely insufferable. God, all three of the next teams are bottom of the barrel awfulness. But next up is Are You Okay? We all know what's wrong with this team. Golf Ball and Tennis Ball are worse than they have ever been, period. Golf Ball is whining the entire episode with some of the most abysmal voice acting I have ever heard, and Tennis Ball is just a simp for Golf Ball. And then they get completely unfairly robbed at the end for no reason other than plot has to happen. The worst part of them losing is that it caused Fries to be eliminated, who if you didn't know is my favorite character. The only reason they aren't lower on the list is because Fries and Puffball's shenanigans with Just Not are mildly entertaining and I have sympathy for Eraser because he got robbed from winning. The Strongest most freaking insufferable annoying as hell team on Earth! Okay that may be a bit harsh, but my GOD is Robot Flower's subplot abysmally awful. Talk about forced, because while I have mostly gotten used to this episode the one part that still triggers the anger I had a year ago is this. She kills her entire team because...they use the robot fish to find where the plates are. That's it. Th-thats her entire reasoning. "GRR HOW DARE YOU USE ROBOTS TO TRICK SOME GUY TO FIND OUT WHERE THE PLATES ARE!!! IM GOING TO KILL YOU ALL!!!" Thats basically a summerized version of what she says. And it doesn't even get brought up for the next few episodes, so it is safe to assume it was just there for the sake of plot has to happen. And everyone else on the team is incompetent or irrelevant. Even Snowball, because he is out of character and mildly annoying. If Robot Flower's subplot made an iota of sense, I might give this a pass but because of the abomitable writing I have to rank it down here. And the worst part of this episode is everything with Team8s. WHERE DO I EVEN BEGIN WITH THIS??? Pin is at her worst, she is just a full blown Karen now. In episodes 2 and 3 I can see where she is coming from, but MY GOD there is absolutely no leeway here. She buys a vacuum and immediately blames Coiny for it failing. She whines about how slow the train is. Everything with Pin in this episode is insufferable, and her character assassination hurts my soul. The entire concept of "the internet" is atrocious. Your telling me this entire time Coiny could have bought random crap out of nowhere to make things convenient? Why hasn't he??? Better yet, why does this never appear again? I'll tell you why, because PLOT. HAS. TO. HAPPEN. Oh, you accidently sent the package to the wrong place? Then ORDER ANOTHER ONE. Evidently this does nothing to hurt your bank account because there is no economy so ORDER ANOTHER ONE!!! THIS EPISODE IS SO AWFUL I CAN'T TAKE IT. Oh yeah and not mention the train stuff. Why do the entire thing with the magnet? It is literally the fastest train ever I don't understand. And then they completely unfairly steal Are You Okay?'s win even though they should have been safe! Also it is a MAGNET? How does it attract GLASS? And if it does, why not oh I don't know...ORDER ANOTHER ONE AND IMMEDIENTLY ATTRACT THE PLATE TO YOU??? AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! So yeah, this episode BLOWS. There is so much awfulness to talk about that it is comical. Most of it makes me feel nothing inside, which is just the worst case scenario for anything. The only other contender that even comes close to this is BFDIA 11, but my GOD this is slightly worse. 1.5/10, thank god the series has improved. So yeah I'M FINALLY FREE!!! Yes, now that this review is finally over I can get back to replaying Super Paper Mario and actually have fun! See you guys next time when I recreate Ratatouille in real life. Bye!!
