It's was only supposed to be like 5 sentences long T0T Prompt: Imagine that everyone in the world suddenly had the power to time travel. Where would you go? Why would you go there? What would you do? Is it in the past or future? Write one paragraph to support your opinion. My Response vvvvvvvvvv (slightly changed wording) Title: Time Travel Maybes If everyone — including me — suddenly had the power to time travel, what I would do would depend on several different factors. The first factor — and arguably one of the most important factors — that would affect my choice is whether the time travel is in a closed loop or an open loop, or if I even know this information at all. A closed loop means that if you time traveled, the events that happen — be it past, present, or future — will always be the same, no matter what you do. One example of this is the My Little Pony season 2, episode 20 called It's About Time, where the main character — Twilight Sparkle — gets a message from her future self, who looked alarmingly disheveled and injured. The present Twilight doesn't fully receive the message Future Twilight was trying to give her, but when Future Twilight disappears due to the time travel spell ending, Present Twilight gets scared of what the future might bring. She keeps trying to prevent what possibly horrible outcome might have happened to her future self, steadily gaining each attribute that Future Twilight had with each method she tries. Eventually, — when Present Twilight gains all the attributes that Future Twilight had — she realizes that there was nothing to worry about. Present Twilight finds the time travelling spell which will grant her the ability to time travel into the past, but only for one minute. She uses this to try to tell Past Twilight to not worry, but the same thing occurs as when Future Twilight tried to tell Present Twilight the important message, causing Past Twilight to do all the things that Present Twilight did and endlessly continuing the time loop. An open loop means that the events that happen can change depending on what you do while you are time traveling. This type of time travel is very prevalent, and is easier to find examples. It's also the main type of time travel most people think of, mainly since it allows changes to the past, present and future. One example of the many examples of this is the movie Titanic. Yes, I know that at first glance, there appears to be zero instances of time travel in the movie Titanic, but I assure you, there most likely is. This 'short' writing may be unnecessarily long — yes I know it is already longer than it's supposed to be, but still — if I try to explain why. So instead, to save my time writing this and your time reading this, I instead will send you a 'Youtube' link to a video that explains it all — this website comes with the added bonus of not having your data being able to be sold to other large companies as easily ( https://inv.tux.pizza/watch?v=g4tPO8tuP9E ). Anyways, if it was a closed loop, I could be more reckless with what I do since I know that any of my actions couldn't be able to cause any catastrophic events. However, if it was an open loop, I would have to carefully monitor my every action and occasionally consult my present or future in order to make sure that any of my actions don't cause a fallout of any kind. Another factor that would affect my decisions — which would probably only apply if it was an open loop time travel system — is law and authority. Since everyone would suddenly be able to time travel, rules and regulations would most likely be set up if it was an open loop time travel system. I know this would most likely happen due to all the chaos that not having a system like this could cause.

Description

Cont cuz it too long for 1 desc: Just think of all the illegal activities that could happen in the past if corrupt, evil, and greedy people weren't kept in line. People could even be illegally poaching dinosaurs if they so wanted to! Human trafficking and murders could skyrocket due to guardians and law enforcement not being able to know whether the person either time traveled or were kidnapped or murdered. Even if people were one hundred percent certain that one of the latter options is what occurred, it would be hard, if not impossible to track down the victim or the suspect, especially since if you actually found the suspect, they could just time travel, maybe even having the victim in tow. This also brings up a few other possible factors affecting what I would do. First of all, is there a time limit between uses of the time travel powers? Secondly, is there a charge up required for the time travel powers to activate, or does it happen as soon as you want it to — the latter would be especially bad for law enforcement trying to catch a criminal? Thirdly — and not really related — do these time travel power pass down to your offspring, or are they only limited to the people who were alive the moment these powers where distributed — it would really suck for those people who barely came to life a second after these powers were distributed if so (I am saying 'came to life' and not 'were born' because being alive and having been born are two different things since you are alive in the womb even though you aren't born yet). Another thing to consider is if you are able to bring objects or other people or living things with you. As you can see, there are several factors to consider when answering questions such as this, and all these factors are barely scratching the surface of what can potentially affect your time travel experience. But, if you just want a quick, normal, simple answer, I would say that i would go to the future to watch episodes of my favorites shows that haven't been released yet, and/or save Hamilton from his death by time traveling him into the future milliseconds before the bullet has hit him, show him the Broadway musical Hamilton — for obvious reasons —, see his reaction — he might not understand several of the words, but he can treat it like an opera and get the meaning of everything by context clues, his memory, and/or the feelings —, then — as soon as the musical is done — time travel him back to the exact place and time I took him from and time travel away so I don't have to see anything dealing with his death. I'm pretty sure I could have done this project in a few sentences instead of the one extremely long paragraph. Oh well, too late for that I guess. Anyways, thank you for coming to my TED Talk™ about how time travel could potentially ruin our lives if we are not careful with it. Thank you and good night. *by the way, this (—) is not a hyphen (-) , it's called an em dash. They can be used as parentheses, colons, or commas — its use situational —
