-Spoilers for TotK- We made our way out of the depths and back out to Hyrule Field. Everyone was coming out of hiding to see that the red sky had cleared, and the monsters retreated. The Demon King had risen and fallen, seemingly overnight. We emerged in the middle of the large grassy field, right by a mountain. Looking up at this mountain, I knew it was where Hyrule Castle would stand in the future. I helped Mineru, who was limping. The black scorch marks from the gloom were still on her. “Mineru, are you sure you are ok?” I asked, concerned. “I’ll be fine.” She said weakly. “I was doing some research and I–I think there are some plants that can. . .reverse the gloom’s effects-” She broke out coughing. “I can help you with that later, but now you need rest.” I said. A lot of the soldiers had come to Hyrule Field to see what happened. “You did it!” one said. “But. . .where is King Rauru?” We all looked at the ground solemnly. “He. . .” I started, faltering. “He sacrificed himself. . .to imprison the Demon King.” I said. Everyone gasped, and their expressions turned solemn as well. I turned around to look at the mountain again. Everything finally seemed to make sense. Everything. . .everything was always going to end like this. Is that really it? I thought. Was Sonia always meant to die? Was Rauru always going to sacrifice his own life for the future of Hyrule? And. . .will it all be for nothing? “Help Mineru get back to her study.” I ordered a group of soldiers, and they did so. I looked at the remaining soldiers. “To preserve the seal that King Rauru placed. . .” I said. “Construct a castle here. And never let anyone go down there.” They nodded. The Sages turned to me. “We shall bring our people out of hiding, and resettle in our villages.” they said, “With the monster gone, it will be safe.” I nodded, and they also left. With everyone gone, I was left on my own. I felt as though everyone I loved was slowly slipping away. Sonia was dead, Rauru was gone, Mineru was ill, and I had no idea what was going to happen to Link and my friends back home. When the Demon King returned, was he going to force the tribes out of their villages again? And with Link hurt. . .Seven of us couldn’t stop the Demon King. How. . .how could Link be able to? Stop, don’t think like that. I thought to myself. Have more faith in him. He defeated Ganon once before. Surely he can do it again. But I couldn’t stop the doubt from forming in my mind. But his arm. . .how is he going to escape that cave? How can he recover from the gloom? And how am I going to get home? Will I ever see him again? “Link. . .” I said aloud, wishing he could hear me. “I can only pray that you are still alive. . .” “Princess.” chimed a robotic voice from behind. I was startled for a moment, before turning around to see a Zonai construct hovering over to me. “Oh! You startled me. . .” I said. “Apologies.” it replied. “But I have come to tell you something. Since the king and queen have both passed, you are now the most powerful member in the Royal family as of now, so it is my duty to pass this information onto you. King Rauru and Queen Sonia had a child.” “What?” I exclaimed. “But. . .they never mentioned having any child.” “Yes.” The construct began to explain. “That is because it was kept a secret, only for a select few to know. When the child was born, Queen Sonia sensed danger was going to come. So they decided it was best for the child’s safety to remain hidden. So they took the child to a Sheikah village hidden in the mountains, where it could grow into adulthood without being in danger.” “Oh.” I said. “That–that makes sense, I suppose.” “Yes. And it turns out that the King and Queen were right to do so, considering what has happened in the last few days.” “Indeed.” I replied. . . . I made my way over to the Great Plateau. Mineru had made it home safely, and was still recovering. I stood in the Temple of Time, staring at the pedestal solemnly, and the doubt all came rushing back. “We managed to restrain him somehow. . .” I said to myself, recalling the events of the night before. The memories flooded my mind again. Rauru thrusting his hand at Ganondorf, then Link’s arm getting scorched by the gloom, and the Master Sword shattering. “But Link. . .I am not sure you will be able to stop him.” I had given up trying to deny this thought. Suddenly, the Secret Stone on my necklace began to glow. My eyes widened as I looked down at it. I sensed something from outside, and I looked up at the shifting gears within the Temple, and the sunlight shining through from behind. I went into the room in the back of the temple, walking out the large doors and staring at the sky. What was this power I was sensing? I looked all around, and over at the end of the walkway, through the stone gateway, I saw it. A glowing, yellow orb of light, and it seemed to be calling to me. I walked up to it, standing next to the slab of stone it was hovering over. (continued in description)
This fanfiction is a made-up story that may not be canon-official in places. However, it does contain some canon dialogue and events that are represented in Tears of the Kingdom's Memories. Everything else was either interferenced from what the game shows the player, or created to flesh out the characters' personalities. Song: Fi's Farewell from Skyward Sword (continued down here) My Secret Stone started glowing again. What is this? I wondered, staring into the light. It let out a gentle, ringing noise, then it shifted and began to grow. The world seemed to turn black and white as the orb gathered light from the world around it. I leaned forward, my eyes widening once more. Then, I heard a familiar voice. A gentle, chiming, female voice that seemed to ring out in my mind. “. . .Zelda. . .Zelda. . .” I knew that voice. I gasped slightly. The light dissipated, and the Sword that Seals the Darkness materialized midair. “The Master Sword. . .” I said as I held out my hands to catch it as it drifted downward. It looked the same as it usually did, except the blade was shattered and decayed. I brought it down and held it closer. “How is. . .the Master Sword. . .” I trailed off. The damaged sword flashed a soft blue light as the voice chimed again. “Zelda. . .Master Link. . .He survived the encounter with the Demon King. . .Rauru replaced his arm so he could heal. . .He sent me back in time. . .to you. The Demon King has damaged me. . .but I have come here. . .so I can recover.” Relief instantly washed over me hearing those words. “You’re telling me. . .that Link is safe?” I should have known! He was ok! And if he was healing. . .then that means he could regain his strength and defeat the Demon King! Hope wasn’t gone! “You traveled through time,” I continued, “to find me and recover your strength.” I thought silently for a moment about what her other words meant. The sword. . .it needs to heal. . .I thought. It can heal by bathing in sacred light. . .and to get it to Link, in the future. . . The realization hit me, and I gasped. Everything, everything that had happened, came rushing back all at once. Rauru’s words rang out in my memory. “Zelda. . .I believe there is a reason you were sent to us. It has to mean something.” It all made sense. Everything that had happened, everything I had gone through, it was all leading up to this moment, this decision! I knew what it was that I had to do. And though the thought scared me, I was certain it was what must be done, and it was the only way. I looked down at the Master Sword. “I know why I am here. It’s. . .something only I can do!” I spoke with intent. “We will finally stop him.” I remembered Mineru’s words. “To become an immortal dragon is to lose oneself.” I turned the Master Sword, holding it by the handle. I nodded, closing my eyes. “I’ll be. . .” I whispered. “forever changed.” I opened my eyes, turning and looking to the sky. I used what power I had to try and call to Link in the future. I hoped with all my heart that he could hear me. “Link. . .You must find me.” TO BE CONTINUED. . .
