NSP has made deals with the EPA to get a few locomotives out of storage: All stored SD60Ms SD40T-2s 8280-8299 Unfortunately, the EPA wants NSP to put SD40M-2s 8691-8696, SD70Ms 9800-9811, and SD89MACs 4500-4509 in storage as a tradeoff, and also wants the NSP to buy more Tier 4 and battery electric locomotives. Due to this, the ELW will be increasing research and testing efforts for the E70G5. This is also the reason why the NSP has been interested in the SD70ACe-T4 as well.
