Hello everybody! Joshuapuffles here, with a special drawing for Earth Day 2024! This is a very special day celebrating just how beautiful our big blue planet is. It’s the only planet we know of so far that contains the most life in the whole universe! There’s no other planet truly like Earth, so it’s important that we preserve what makes our home planet so special, from the land to the sea! Although many issues are threatening our planet, from Global Warming, Plastic Pollution, and Biodiversity Loss, we have to remember the ways we can help; all hope is not lost! This Earth Day, let’s acknowledge all the progress we’re making, and the progress we can make in the future for a better, healthier planet! There are two sides to this drawing; the left shows a forest environment with Lemur Joe (Top-right), Donny (Top-left), Wally (Bottom-left), and who I’m now calling Frodger (On top of Wally)! What do you think of his new name? Frodger and his other friends are all having some fun with beautiful flowers! They want to protect forest environments such as the one they’re in! Forests come in all kinds, and all contain millions of different species, so it’s important that we preserve their habitats! Plants are very useful for our planet’s health, as well as our own! Soil is most important, as proper care of soil is rich in valuable little critters, like earthworms and bacteria, that help plants grow! So let’s give some soil and plants a helping hand! They could help us with climate change as well! The right side of this drawing shows an ocean environment, with our friends Cruzzer (Top-right), Octozu (Middle-left), and the new addition to my cast of characters, Melibee (Bottom-right)! Melibee is a Lion’s Mane Nudibranch (Melibe leonina), a cute little sea slug that’s just one of the many different creatures in the deep blue sea! Unfortunately, all those creatures are at risk of plastic pollution. Over 8-10 million tons of plastic enter our oceans each year, endangering many sea creatures, from tiny plankton to even huge whales. However, the biggest solution to this problem is to reduce our plastic waste and spread the message of how important our oceans are, especially plankton, as they provide food for other sea creatures and even oxygen for all of us to breathe! Our Earth is very special to us, so it’s important that we take good care of our home for generations to come. Although the future seems bleak now, we need to focus more on how we can help and all the progress we’re making to provide a healthier planet. There are many ways to help our blue marble, so go search up ways on how you and others can make a difference! It’s the small steps that can come a long way, and if we do it all together, we can go so far! Spread the message, not just today, but every day as well! Earth for the win!! That’s all for today, but Earth protection shall prevail! Remember, you CAN make a difference, and together, we CAN help Earth and all who inhabit it. Until then, Waddle On!
