BotW and TotK were both great games, but it’s likely we won’t be getting a third installment, considering they said that there isn’t any more they could do with the current version of Hyrule. But I, for one, am really interested to see what Nintendo comes up with next. Like, where could they go from here? But I was thinking about this and actually came up with my own idea for a possible future Zelda game. Obviously, I don’t work at Nintendo, so this probably won’t ever be a real thing (unless Nintendo has a similar idea) but I think it is a cool concept so I wanted to share it. The main premise of this game would be that it is a choose-your-own-adventure style game, where the choices you make in the story actually affect the outcome. So the game would start out where you are playing as Link, a royal guard, as you helps Princess Zelda investigate monster attacks and Ganondorf and stuff like that. Then at some point in the game, when Ganondorf is revealed to be evil, (and whether or not he gets the Triforce of Power is determined by the choices you make) then the game would take a bit of a turn, where Hyrule is at war with the monsters and possibly the Gerudo, or other tribes if they are convinced to join Ganondorf. You would command armies, make alliances with other tribes, build forts, plan battle strategies, and go into battle against the opposing side. The ways you choose to go about these battles will affect whether or not you win or lose (kinda like the quest with Riju in Gerudo Town where you fight the Gibdos). And if you do lose, most of the time you wouldn’t get a do-over. You would just have to keep going and make the right choices to gain the upper hand again. The NPCs could also actually be helpful in the fight, if you can command them well. Zelda could be fighting alongside you (or possibly be playable!), and again, the choices you make in the game will affect whether or not she is kidnapped or something like that. These battles would make up a lot of the game, but there would still be a lot of open world adventure and whatnot. And instead of Ganondorf just waiting in a castle until the final battle or something, you could actually go into battle against him during portions of the game. It would be a nice combination of the new open world gameplay and the classic linear style, because you do have most of the freedom to do what you want, but certain things you do can either positively or negatively impact the story. Another idea would be the NPCs, instead of having programmed dialogue, would actually be controlled by AI bots, coded to act like the character they are, so you can have unique conversations with them. I’ve heard of games that actually have something like this. And this Zelda game would be called (drumroll please. . .) (continued in credits)
Song: Ocarina of Time Medley from Super Smash Bros. Thumbnail by me (scroll down for next part) The Legend of Zelda: Path of Power! That has such a nice ring to it, doesn’t it? Maybe I should work at Nintendo. . . Ok, change of plans. This is actually my job application for Nintendo. HIRE ME TO WRITE THE NEXT ZELDA GAME AND POSSIBLY THE MOVIE PLEASE! Anyways, I’d like to hear your ideas for potential future Zelda games in the comments! Yahaha! You found me!
