Spoilers. you know this. | | | | | | | V Hey guys, welcome back to this episode of Reviewsday! The first one since...October. Okay in my defence I was banned, but still that was pretty unexceptable of me. So to make up for it, you guys are getting a large one today! That's right, this is my review of the III finale! Since it is split into episodes 18 and 19, I'll do just episode 18 in this review. Yeah I'm not gonna sugercoat it, this finale was really not good. I have hinted at my distain for it multiple times in the past, but now I can finally explain why! Granted episode 18 was WAY better than episode 19 (with the exception of one scene that we will get to later). I would actually say the first 12 minutes are really good and solid, so most of this part will be fairly positive. It is mostly that pre-mentioned scene, some plot holes, and the entirety of episode 19 that drag down this finale to being the worst object show finale I have seen. Starting with the plot, all of the people that MePhone have previously wronged come back and imprison him and his contestants, and it is up to the finalists to save MePhone. This is a good structure for the plot, but it isn't perfect. It doesn't make sense to me why so many people would have strong enough grudges against MePhone to basically kidnap him. Time for the characters! The eliminated contestants were pretty easily the best part of the finale for me. It is really nice seeing all of them again, specifically Fan OJ and Paintbrush for the first time since...a long time ago. Their character interactions were actually really enjoyable and funny! The scene in the jail when they discuss who the winner should be was fairly drawn out but really entertaining! And the small moment Fan shared with Bot was so wholesome I'm sorry. One small nitpick though, they make Clover run away and make the impression that it will become important later when it never really becomes important, but like I said it is just a nitpick. The Unvitational Commitee was fine. Some characters like the Saberspark lamp, the Camera duo and Dr. Fizz don't really seem like the people to do this sort of thing, but yeah otherwise they are pretty okay. The fight scene with Candle is decent, and they actually do pose a threat. I just have one question. Why lock up the contestants? If you are trying to convince them to join your side, why lock them up? Better yet, why lock up most of them but not the finalists; people who can actually do some damage! Balloon and Cabby are okay. Balloon doing the whole "oh noo guys I can't be myself" shtick is moderatly annoying, because the last episode spent a lot of time making him feel accomplished for what he has done. Cabby is okay too, just feels a bit formulaic for her character. But Silver is where I have problems. For most of the episode he was great. He was funny, somewhat manipulative, and just a good time. But when he recklessly shows off his inner flame ability the finale starts going downhill. The short argument he has with Candle at the elimination area is somewhat cringe and extremely forced. But HOO BOY it is NOTHING compared to what he does later. WHY. DOES. HE. FIGHT. CANDLE. This scene still infuriates me, because it was super cringe, forced, out of place, and just...bad. Oh no silver, you want Candle to vote for you? How about you HELP HER OUT like you just said you would a second ago! If you want to win her vote, maybe don't knock her unconscious in her most vulnerable state? I just don't understand!!! At first I wanted Silver to win, but now I really didn't care because all three finalists were equally as mid. So yeah, this first half was not too bad. I actually liked most of it! If it wasn't for the scene with Silver, I probably would have remembered this half more fondly. This half gets a 6.5/10. I'll talk about part two in a bit, and spoiler alert it asassinated what episode 18 had. I'll see you then!
