D/CTA = Draw/Convince to Adopt this was originally going to be a 200+ celebration, but my school stuff heaped and i was forced into inactivity for a while ':D there's a one month gap between the designs... HOW THIS WORKS this isn't a traditional dta. while of course you have to draw the design at least once to enter (it's a design, after all), i will be more focused on how you plan to treat the character rather than just the art itself. essentially, the person whose art, backstories, and plans can convince me the most will get the character, not the person with the best art skills or the most effort. (in short, a dta but more focused on character usage plans/bios than actual art) more on how to win later <3 DESIGNS: 1. field flight 2. sea song DESIGN NOTES 1. field flight: - based on reeve's peasants 2. sea song: - based on whales and okefenokee (did i spell that right?) pygmy sunfish - "i don't do designs that often because i always spend too much time on the anatomy", said me, proceeding to attempt the most difficult pose i can think of with only half a reference RULES: - remix to enter! - please keep muitiple artworks in one project. animations are an exception - please make it mobile friendly (ipad user here) - you may alter the design in your drawing, but not too much. changing them to other feral species is okay, but snakes/humans are not - no ai art, tracing, picrews, or using bases - don't disrespect other people's entries - you can enter for both, but you can only win one - offsite entries are fine <3 as long as you link them and i can see them ofc - you do not need to ask to enter - DEADLINE the 25th of may. because i finish the last of my ap tests on the day before and it's the discworld lilac day o7 - no extensions :.) TERMS OF SERVICE: (if you win) https://toyhou.se/~bulletins/1697870.art-adopts-tos i allow almost everything... TIPS FOR WINNING: - be silly, creative, and have fun with the character. show genuine attachment; this ISN'T a 100% art contest, this is me trying to find the designs good homes where they will be treated well and enjoyed. - why do you want the design? don't just tell me it's because they're pretty or that you plan to draw them. BE SPECIFIC. - how will you use the design? again, "i plan to put them in a comic/novel i'm making" is not enough. tell me about the comic. do you already have a pilot or some chapters out? link them. sketches of the other characters? link them. what is the plot? what role will the design play? - "but i can't tell you more than just a vague outline because spoilers". no. i will always prioritise detailed stories way above simple blurbs. message me on an old project of mine or ping me somewhere discreet on the site and tell me about it there (or if you for some reason find one of my active socials, pm me). if you don't tell me anything, i can only assume you have nothing ':) - how credible are you? if you said you'd make a comic or novel about them, are you actually a person who has drawn or written something like that before? (speaking as a person who has attempted both, they're harder than they look) show me. how did you treat the other designs you got from other people? SHOW - SHOW ME EVERYTHING. LINK EVERYTHING. got a huge world that you've been working on for ages? i won't know about it unless you tell me. got a twenty-chapter wip book that's part of the world that you're planning to put my design in? LINK IT. the more details, the better. if the scratch project word limit is unfriendly, paste it offsite and write me a link somewhere. - don't be afraid to talk too much or overwhelm me with links! there's no such thing as being too wordy when you're talking with me B) after all, i'm the one who wrote this project description and look how many words this is already - - the drawing part of your entry is there to show that you're willing to draw the design. feel free to be silly and do memes or show off your godly art skills <3 just saying though, i have a soft spot for comics and expression sheets... (hint hint hint) - character bios, personalities, and backstories can help you a lot or not at all depending on the quality. i like seeing unconventional traits such as unlikeable personalities, being morally grey, or being old. conversely, using cliched backstories won't really help. - personality > backstory, 3d personality > flat characterisation CREDITS: - designs and art by @TilanissaWildhawk - song: "red water dreams" by aviators #DTA #CTA #dta #drawtoadopt #adopt #adopts
