"plot" (not really plot just calling it that) ╰⎯ ⎯⎯ ⎯ . ੈ✩ . ⎯ ⎯⎯ ⎯╯ ༉‧₊˚✧ introduction . . . hi! i was thinking of a possible idea to just have a project for just my research on selective mutism since i thought it would be pretty necessary. and i have a little idea that i used in my application for kvě where she's selectively mute. in this project, i'll be linking some of my research + explaining how my idea for her selective mutism relates to the song fragile by laufey. enjoy! <3 psst: i put the song in the project so press the green flag and listen while you read >:3 ╰⎯ ⎯⎯ ⎯ . ੈ✩ . ⎯ ⎯⎯ ⎯╯ ༉‧₊˚✧ research . . . ♡ https://childmind.org/guide/parents-guide-how-to-help-a-child-with-selective-mutism/ ♡ https://asha.org/practice-portal/clinical-topics/selective-mutism/ - Selective mutism is an anxiety disorder where someone is able to speak in certain situations (like home) and is completely silent, or mute, during other situations/places (like school). It is mainly "found" in children, and is recognized around age three or four (around a couple moons old for cats). It comes from being overwhelmed, social anxiety, separation anxiety, ocd, etc. Signs or symptoms of selective mutism include the following. When they're at home, they are comfortable talking to friends or family but could exhibit difficulty talking to anyone outside very close friends or immediate family. Some children also make up excuses to not leave the house. At places they're not comfortable talking, like school (anywhere not close to their family for Kvě perhaps), they are usually perceived as aloof and distant, and can show emotional behavioural responses like mental breakdowns, crying, not willing to leave parent/clinginess, etc. They would use a lot of non-verbal communication like head nods, gestures, facial expressions, posture, etc. note: probably going to add to this later, just wanted to post this project so i could rp haha ╰⎯ ⎯⎯ ⎯ . ੈ✩ . ⎯ ⎯⎯ ⎯╯ ༉‧₊˚✧ květoslava's selective mutism . . . ♡ My idea for Kvě's selective mutism would go along to the song "Fragile" by Laufey. I listened to a Laufey interview to understand more about the song, and from the interview I've managed to piece together what the song is about (in my own ideas). The song is about growing up in a "case of fragile glass," and then someone comes to "hammer away," (aka kind of set you free from your "prison" of sorts). I think that from a young age, Květoslavakit would be "trapped" in this case of glass and she would've been put in there by herself. She would be scared to get hurt by someone or something and would decide it was just best for her to retreat to a fantasy in her mind, living in a world that's very different from reality. In her mind, she's trapped in a case of glass, and that glass box represents her selective mutism. When she's around cats she loves, they're the ones "hammering away" at her case of glass, setting her free and gaining her trust, which eventually leads to her being able to talk to them at last. I don't really know how to explain my ideas for this but it will make sense when I roleplay haha. Her glass box will only disappear once she's older and found someone she loves so much they can break the glass case forever and "set her free." please read my srp in my application linked it kind of helps visualize this! https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/topic/746622/ that's all for today, thanks for reading guys and i hope you understand more about kvě's character! have an absolutely marvelous rest of your day and make sure to drink lots of water lovelies! ╰⎯ ⎯⎯ ⎯ . ੈ✩ . ⎯ ⎯⎯ ⎯╯
